We Walk So They Don't Have To.

Every day, children at Open Tribe School in Zimbabwe walk for water before they can learn. This June, we’re walking in solidarity to raise 10,000 AUD for a solar-powered borehole that will bring clean water directly to their school.

Water Changes Everything

Without reliable access to clean water, children lose hours every day walking long distances carrying heavy containers — instead of being in school.

A solar-powered borehole at Open Tribe School means:

  • Clean drinking water
  • Better student health
  • More time in classrooms
  • Long-term sustainability for the community

This isn't temporary aid. It's infrastructure that changes lives for decades.

See the Impact of Your Donation

An upfront funding injection of $10,000 AUD transitions Open Tribe from a state of water vulnerability to a position of permanent, climate-resilient water independence. It is an investment that pays for itself in health, time, and financial savings within the first few years of operation.
  • Site Survey & Drilling: Finding the water table, drilling the well, and lining it with heavy-duty pipe so it doesn’t collapse.

  • Solar Pump & Panels: High-efficiency solar panels and a heavy-duty submersible pump to draw water using 100% free, clean energy.

  • Storage Tank & Stand: A large storage tank and steel stand to hold water so the community has 24/7 gravity-fed access, even at night.

  • Water Testing & Filtration: Professional lab testing and basic filtration to guarantee the water is 100% safe and clean to drink.

  • Security & Labor: Fencing and lockable housing to protect the equipment from theft, plus paying local workers to help build it.

  • No Ongoing Costs: Replaces expensive, polluting diesel generators with free solar power, meaning the community never has to buy fuel to keep the water flowing.

  • Saves Time & Lives: Stops women and children from walking hours for dirty surface water, keeping the community healthy and freeing up time for school and farming.
